Curriculum Offer Overview

The statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework emphasises clear overarching principles and learning and development requirements for children to continue to progress and develop towards their readiness for school and achieve their early learning goals. Sunflowers ensure that all areas of learning are considered when planning and changing the environment and activities for children, ensuring that children have opportunity to learn through play experiences both organised and spontaneous, inside and outside, as well as around their interests they have expressed.

We have been inspired by many different approaches in childcare which helps us shape what we provide, adapting this to suit our own individualities and empower us to provide effective learning opportunities for all our children.

Practitioners in Sunflowers take care to ensure they provide a warm and nurturing welcome to aid children to settle and explore how to build relationships with others. Children have a settling in process and are supported by the key worker approach to allow them to discover they are safe, secure and feel supported.

Daily Activities:

Within the group, all children are supported in developing to their full potential at their own pace. Through regular observations and the Key person system, we are able to develop planned activities tailored to meet the needs of each individual child, consisting of developmentally appropriate play activities and a high level of individual adult input. All of our activities are based on learning through play.

Some of the daily activities that the children partake in can include:

• Book reading
• Role-play
• And many more!
