A message from Mrs Caroline Neal, Head Teacher
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Hornbill School website. Whether you are a current member of our school community, a prospective pupil or parent, we hope you’ll gain a sense of our high aspirations and vibrant community.
Starting in September 2025, Hornbill School will welcome students from 0 – 11 in year groups from Nursery to Year 6.
The success of Hornbill School is due to our outstanding and dedicated staff and governors, together with our fantastic pupils, parents and community – all participating enthusiastically and working hard for success. In this way, Hornbill School works together as a united team to achieve amazing results and create so many opportunities for the young people that we are fortunate to serve.
Whilst great schools are about the people in them and not just the buildings, our facilities undoubtedly provide the very best. With a state-of-the-art sports hall, STEM room, computing suite, library, music, drama and art studios, we are well-placed to engage, enthuse and inform children to realise their potential, wherever their passion may lie.
At Hornbill School, we have high expectations of our children, delivering an empowering curriculum in a safe and purposeful environment that celebrates our roles as local, national and global citizens. No matter how long your child attends our school, it is our aim to equip them with the skills and knowledge, alongside the drive and resilience, with which to embrace future pathways towards successful careers and fulfilling lives. We want to give our pupils a sound and strong foundation in their Academic subjects, to enable them to develop in Sports, the Arts and offer an all-round and exciting curriculum with plenty of additional adventures. We want them to be fulfilled and engaged but also to learn the unwritten lessons: how to treat themselves well – and others too – to help them to get along with everyone, to achieve in their own right and as part of a team. How to experience success and feel proud, but also to cope with challenges and setbacks.
Your child is unique and, at Hornbill, we work hard to discern the needs and abilities of each individual. We believe that the most important thing we can give your child is the sense of belonging within our strong school community.
What we think is so special about our school is that every child believes they make a difference – and they do. We shall be delighted to introduce you to the staff and especially, to the children who will give you a genuinely warm welcome and the most convincing recommendation of all – their own.
I feel honoured and privileged to be Headteacher of Hornbill School. The support of our whole school community; children, families, staff and governors, is vitally important to our success and I look forward to meeting and working with you. We hope that you will be able to spare some time to learn more about Hornbill School from our website and would be delighted to speak and meet with you in the future.

Our Vision, Values and Aims
What?
Our vision is to create a culture of mutual respect and empower our community of Hornbill citizens to become happy, independent, self-aware learners.
Why?
We want our learners to succeed and to enthusiastically contribute, making a positive impact as active citizens. Learners at Hornbill School are predominantly Service Families Children. They are global citizens who are likely to live in varied countries, attending several different schools and celebrating cultural diversity. During their time at Hornbill, we are committed to equipping learners to develop a feeling of self-belonging as part of the school’s many communities, regardless of whatever point and for however long they are a part of the school.
How?
We equip our whole school community with a toolkit of knowledge, support and learning powers for lifelong learning in a constantly evolving and complex world. Our aspiration is for learners to become happy, respectful, self-aware and powerful learners in any environment, focusing on the key skills, or Learning Powers, of:

Communication
Creativity
Courage
Curiosity
